The Eixample stretches across the centre of Barcelona and is a very popular district with both locals and visitors alike. Its grid layout, made up of wide streets and octagonal-shaped blocks, it offers one of the most iconic images of Barcelona: so much so that we decided to include it in our logo. In the South the quarter borders on the famous Plaza Catalunya, in the East on the quarter named Born and in the West on “Barrio Gótico”, the old part of the city. In the North Eixample borders on one of the most famous and popular places of Barcelona: Gracia. Eixample is one of the most secure places in Barcelona, and offers a wide range of cafés, bars restaurants and discoteques. The “Passeig de Gracia” divides the quarter into two parts. Two of the most famous works from Gaudi are located at the Passeig: “La casa Batilón” and “La Pedrera” with its famous chimneys. A bigger part of the quarter offers quiet nights and busy streets during the day. The local people profit from the wide range of shopping possibilities, cinemas, pharmacies and kiosks. The quarter offers perfect access as well to the centre as to the beach by public transport. There are numerous busses and metros (1,2, 3 und 4). The quarter „Eixample Derecho“ is one of most touristy places of Barcelona. Furthermore, the modern shopping mall “Glories” can be found there as well. Only five minutes walking distance from the Sagrada Familia the “Plaza de Toros Monumental“ is located. The “Hospital de la Sant Creu i Sant Pau“ is also a gorgeous building, the work of the famous catalan architects Domènch i Muntaner.
