Borne and the neighbouring area of Sant Pere collectively form La Ribera (The Waterfront), one of the most popular places to live in Barcelona, right in the medieval heart of the city. Although he was born in Andalusia, Picasso is the adoptive child of Barcelona, where 3.500 of his works were exhibited. The Picasso museum is located in the street called Montcada. The building exists of five connected palaces, which are once belonged to the rich merchants. Today it keeps the treasure of the artist. Next to the Picasso museum you find the textile museum and the Barbier-Mueller art museum which exhibits precolumbian art. After the excursion through the museums, the Ciutadella park provides a perfect place to relax. Besides the zoo you can find a science museum (Museu de Ciències Naturals), a lake with boot rental and more than 30 interesting statues. One of the most interesting statue has three deers, dedicated to Walt Disney.
All these places are at close quarters but also well connected by public transport (metro L4 station Jaume I or Barceloneta). Therefore Born is definitely one of the best places to start your discovery of the city, as well as to live here.
