Description

Beautiful studio located very near the Cathedral and the new Santa Caterina Market designed by the architect Enric Miralles. There is a double bed, fully equipped kitchen, bathroom with bathtub and shower, living and dining area arranged in a manner that optimises the space provided. The studio is elegantly furnished down to the smallest detail. There are two small balconys looking onto the street, with the curtains tied back sunlight floods the apartment. The apartment is located on a narrow street in a quiet part of the Barrio de Ribera, the only drawback is the staircase in the building, its quite narrow but its due to be reformed in the near future. The neighbourhood has had a lot of investment put into it recently, mainly due to the new market but also the popularity of the Barrio del Born has rubbed off on it. Its well comunicated by bus and metro but most of the tourist actractions are with a ten to fifteen minute walk of the apartment and the only real way to see Barcelona is on foot.

Location

The districts of Santa Caterina and Sant Pere form part of the old helmet of Barcelona and their names originate with the large religious institutions that were once in this area. In the 18th century, the age of maritime trade, the majority of its commerce and business centered in and around this area.
Today the district is known for the density of its buildings with their narrow winding streets, filled with little shops. For tourists it´s an ideal starting point to discover Barcelona. With its variety of shops you will be able to find all you need for your stay within a short walking distance and its location allows you to reach most of the tourist spots within a few minutes. The Gothic Quarter and Cathedral as well as Plaza Catalunya, Arc de Triumfo and Park Ciutadella are all very near, about a five to ten minute walk from the area. You can even get to the beach in about fifteen minutes.
On the other hand, the Santa Caterina and Sant Pere districts are not the safest areas of Barcelona. Its not recommended that tourists stroll around the little side streets especially at night.
On saying that a lot of tourists stay in the area for its good location and the authentic atmosphere. Some places of interest to look out for are; the Palau de la Música, the Arch de Triumf, the Ciutadella Park and the Picasso Museum.
