| The district Sant Marti is situated in the northeast of Barcelona and keeps up the typical pattern of its neighbour district Eixample. The more North you get the buildings of this district changes. In the beginning of the sixties many multi-story building were constructed to give space for immigrants coming to Barcelona. Sant Marti faces the beaches of Barcelona and here it is well-kept as this part was restored for the Olympic Games in 1992. The beaches along Sant Marti are the nicest beaches Barcelona has to offer. At the very end of Sant Marti a new area was constructed for the exhibition grounds of the Forum Barcelona 2004. A forum dedicated to bring together all the different cultures of the world. The partly exceptional architecture is worth a visit. Parts of the grounds can still be visited will be kept as museums. |
