This is a lovely light and spacious apartment for a couple or a family. It can sleep up to six but would then be not so spacious. The apartment has been redecorated in January 2006 and a new bathroom, kitchen, central heating and wooden floors were put in. The apartment is on the first floor in a quiet neighbourhood. It is in Poble Sec, right next to all the attractions of Montjuic - Magic Fountain, castle, cable car, Miro foundation and 2 other art galleries, parks, olympic stadium, etc. Poble Sec metro is a 5 min walk or Plaça Espanya 10 minutes. You can then take the metro to everywhere-else in Barcelona - Ramblas 2 stops, Pg de Gracia 3 stops, Barcelona Sants 2 stops. The main bedroom is furnished with a double bed (140x200cm) and in the second bedroom is a bunk bed (90x200cm). The single bedroom and bathroom (bath tub/shower) look out on to the small interior patio. The kitchen and living room (tv. and dvd) are located in one big open space. For two couples it can be set up for 2 in the double room and 2 persons sleeping on the sofabed. There is also a community roofterace. All the rooms are fitted with central heating. The apartment is well equipped with friendly service in English, French, Spanish or Catalan. You are allowed to bring a pet if it is a dog or a cat.

Bookings for six are only accepted when it is a family with four children.
A laundry service is offered at 10 euros.
Note: The owner does not accept reservations which start/end on the 25th of December and the 1st of January. We regret that all male groups of 3 or more men only are not accepted at this property. For arrivals between 23.00hrs and 07.00hrs there is a supplement of 20€ to be paid directly to the owner on arrival.

The district with the generic name, Poble Sec was the first ´Ensanche´ or ´extentsion´ to Barcelona´s city center. The name was given in 1854 when the first walls of Barcelona were knocked down to start the construction of terrace houses for labourers. The area had all the advantages needed to prosper, with only one setback: the steep slopes surrounding it.
The district Poble Sec lies on the border of Montjüic hill, the backdrop of the World Exposition of 1929 and the Olympic Games in 1992. The most famous street in this district is, Avinguda Paral.lel, which was once the prime centre of Barcelona nightlife - often called its ´Montmartre´. During the first half of the 20th century, this area was full of theatres, nightclubs and music halls. Today Poble Sec continues to enjoy a friendly atmosphere with quiet streets and parks and you can still find some traditional bars, some more modernized and various good restaurants. You will also notice some modernist buildings along Avinguida Paral.lel that stand out. Poble Sec is also the area with the easiest access to Montjüic where you can enjoy spectacular views of Barcelona. The Oylmpic Games in 1992 were also held on the Montjüic mountain and the stadium is definitely a worthwhile visit.
Poble Sec is a good starting out point to see Barcelona, with easy access to the city center and good communication by bus and underground you will feel like you have Barcelona at your feet. |
