"The district “Poble Nou” is located in the north of the city centre and offers an excellent access to the sea, as well as to the three best known beaches. “Poble Nou” is one of the oldest districts but recently reformed. After the Olympic Games in 1992 the old factories and stocks had been reconstructed to today’s most esteemed hotels and buildings in Barcelona like the multicolor tower “Agbar”. However, the transformation of the district hasn’t changed the atmosphere of the area. You can say this area is one of the bohemian sides of town and in some old buildings you can find design academies, lofts, and shops or the discotheque “Razzmatazz”.
Many of the old industrial chimneys are conserved and are a nice remembrance of the old industry in this area. In the center of the district you find the main street “La Rambla del Poble Nou” where you can have a little walk, ramble in the shops or have a cup of coffee on the terrace in of the numerous coffee shops without the multitude of tourists like in other areas like the “Plaza Catalunya” or “Las Ramblas”. There also is a market, recently reforemed, small but popular. The both parks in “Poble Nou” were built in 2008 and gave you the possibility to relax or have a walk after a day on the beach.
The transport is very good, you have the yellow metro linie (L4) with various stations and buslinies. In 15 min you can reach the citiy center, “Barceloneta” or the “Passeig de Gracia”.
