Sant Antoni is a neighbourhood within Barcelona’s prestigious L’Eixample district, bordered on the north side by the famous street Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes (the longest street in Spain). The streets are laid out in a grid pattern, typical of the whole L’Eixample area, so getting lost doesn’t tend to be a problem. The pedestrianised Avinguda de Mistral cuts through the district, and is a lovely place to take in local sights and sounds. Shop like the locals do and head for the district’s most famous landmark - the Mercat de Sant Antoni, which covers a large block of the district. Here you’ll find a veritable feast of flavours and colours – the freshest fruit, vegetables, meat, fish and seafood and lots of locals jostling for the best bargain.
