Barcelona restaurants, food and drink

Here is everything you need to know before enjoying Barcelona's eating establishments. Spanish people eat late, this is a fact. Lunchtime starts at 2PM and goes until about 3.30 to 4PM, and dinner starts at about 9.30. If you turn up any earlier than that they'll tell you to come back at a later time, or you will be eating with the restaurant staff. At the end of your meal, there is always that annoying difference in tipping behaviour. Well, here are the rules for tipping in Barcelona: there are no rules, it's common in mid- or upper-range restaurants to leave 1-2 € - rarely over 3 € - but many locals leave nothing or just a nominal 10 cents.
