Barcelona for beach lovers

Ask visitors and locals alike why they love Barcelona and nearly everyone will mention the beach. It's no wonder, as few cities of Barcelona’s size and appeal can boast over 4km of sandy beaches only 10 minutes from its centre.

The eight beaches all have different characters. Barceloneta and Sant Sebastià beside the W hotel tend to attract a younger, more touristy crowd. Local families gravitate towards Nova Icària and Bogatell, while Mar Bella is popular with nudists and the gay community. Nova Mar Bella, Llevant and Fórum to the north are less attractive but perfect if peace and quiet is what you're after.
