Stag Parties in Barcelona – is it all just fun?

Well as we all know there are some things that are unavoidable in life…these include taxes, natural disasters and stag parties. Before one gets married, it’s customary to have a stag party to signify the giant leap from single life to married life. Such is life, girls will always have fun and boys will always be boys. So it’s traditional that the best man for the wedding organises at least one night of pure mayhem to at least present the groom with some unforgivable temptations.

And why not have it in a city that has earned an impressive reputation for being a stag party destinations in Europe. Barcelona presents endless opportunities for a group of hyped bachelor’s looking for a weekend of jam-packed activities and alcohol. With the beach only minutes away and an amazing nightlife, Barcelona will continue to be a common calling point for many crazy stag parties to come.

However, it isn’t all fun and games for many Catalonians who have some rather strong opinions against these parties. Some consider it to be somewhat disgraceful as many Anglosaxones come to Barcelona in search of some distinctly different Mediterranean women and act in ways that many would consider appalling. Not only do they get excessively drunk but they embarrass themselves with antics that though they may not remember, many locals as they watch on in disgust. Calls to the Catalonian Government have been put fourth to reduce what is known as ¨trash tourism¨ but these have been somewhat unsuccessful.

Invariably stag parties will not please everyone and whether we are prepared to admit it or not, they will continue to exist in Barcelona for many years to come. Everyone is entitled to fun but the onus goes back on the tourists to maintain a bit of dignity and have respect for both the unofficial and official rules of being in another country.
