Restaurants in Gracia – A Place For Every Occasion
The district of Gracia is home to an enormous variety of restaurants of every kind and for every occasion. Many of them are little known to visitors of Barcelona, but if your aim is to discover the authentic taste of the city then you mustn’t miss visiting one of these culinary gems.
There are many restaurants serving modern Mediterranean cuisine, where design and good taste are the principal elements. The more recognized and costly restaurants are found on Gran de Gracia street. One of these is ‘Fernández’, the perfect place for a special celebration.
Some special occasions require less glamour and more intimacy, and for these you should venture down the little side streets in the area where you will find smaller restaurants of the same variety but a little more cosy in terms of ambience. My preferences would be ‘Con Gracia’ and ‘Ferrum’. However, I’m sure that there are many others which would be worth visiting.

If what you’re looking for is something a little less alternative and more traditional then you should have a nose around the area near to Fontana metro station, in particular down Carrer de Montseny where you will find plenty of reasonably priced restaurants famous among the inhabitants of Barcelona. ‘La Caleta de Gracia’ is one of these and it is distinguishable due to one particular aspect- it is designed for dining in groups. Undoubdtedly, it’s the perfect place to enjoy a meal with friends.
Traditional food is not the only thing that you will find in Gracia; if you walk for a few minutes down ‘Carrer Roselló’ near to Verdaguer metro station you will come across a wide variety of well-known restaurants serving international food. In ‘Kathmandu’ you will find all the flavours of Nepal, whilst ‘Yukata’ brings the best of Japan to Barcelona. You can also find other international restaurants away from this street, like ‘Ugarit’- a Syrian restaurant- located on Calle Verdi.
Some days, of course, you need a more casual place to have a beer, a coffee or perhaps eat some tapas. When these days come along be sure to visit one of Gracia’s many plazas where you will find a huge quantity of terraces to sit at at a good price.
If price or time are major factors in your decision making then I would recommend going for a bocadillo (sandwich) in any of the local bars in the area, or perhaps eating at a ‘Frankfurt’, which is always useful for satisfying your hunger.

La Minerva is a great restaurant in gracia too. Its a mix of french, italian and mediterranian food, served with a really high attention to detail. For the price its very very good.
Hi Richard,
Mmmm does sound good! Thanks for the suggestion. Do you live locally or did you discover this little gem whilst on holiday?
Francesca
You’ll find the traditional cuisine there. La Balsa is my favorite. It is a glamorous restaurant. The view and atmosphere are unique.
