Visit Barcelona In 3 days: Day 1- The Northern Part Of Barcelona

Planning to spend 3 days in Barcelona and don’t really know where to begin? Here are a few ideas to help you plan your itinerary and get the most from your stay.
This week, we are going to dedicate our attention to your first day in Barcelona. In the coming weeks, we will be giving you further advice on how to spend your next two days.

1st Day : the Northern Part of Barcelona

Gaudi Morning: After a good breakfast on the terrace of one of the many cafés in the city, make your way to Plaza Catalunya, the most popular square in Barcelona. From there, head for Passeig de Gracia. This avenue, lined with buildings each as beautiful as the last, includes two of Gaudi’s major works: the Casa Batlló and the Casa Milà, which is commonly known as La Pedrera. This architectural pearl of Barcelona’s heritage is worth a visit in order to check out its terrace, replete with eccentric fireplaces. After concluding your visit, take Metro line number 5 from Diagonal in the direction of Horta and alight at the Sagrada Familia, Gaudi’s incomplete master work, a cathedral unique within its genre.

Picnic in Parc Güell: After a wonderful morning of visiting and walking, you definately deserve a little R and R.
Take the metro again in the opposite direction, towards Cornellà, get off at Diagonal and then take the green line, direction Canyelles, getting out at Vallcarca. After a little bit of effort climbing up the hill leading to Parc Güell, you will arrive in the park, a lovely, Unesco recognised site where you will be able to enjoy a wonderful view over the city. Here you can have a nice ‘bocadillo’ picnic on Gaudi’s ceramic seat, whist enjoying the sun.

Shopping Afternoon: Afterwards, you can make your way down to Placa Lesseps, continuing straight on to Diagonal Avenue. From there, take a right turn and head to Placa Francesc Macia. Within this commercial district, you’ll find many brand-name boutiques as well as the famous department store ‘El Corte Ingles’. Next week, I will also be giving you other excellent shopping itineraries in Barcelona.

An Evening in Gracia: The area of Gracia, situated on the green line (metro stop- Fontana) is a network of little lively streets, with modern restaurants of good quality where you can taste some tapas before going to have a drink in one of the numerous bars within this fashionable district.
