Hot Air Balloon Rides, a great day trip from Barcelona

Why not tear yourself away from the sights of Barcelona for a day and treat yourself to something a little unusual? Hot-air ballooning is one of the top 10 things that people say they would love to experience so if you haven’t already given it a try, now is your chance.

It is the perfect day trip from Barcelona. You start the day fairly early with a train journey to the town of Vic where you are picked up and taken to the launch site. From then on it’s all about enjoying the most exhilarating way to see the Catalan landscape. And remember your camera! From 3000m, the views are spectacular; something you will be sure to want photos of when you get home.

Your time in the air depends on the flights you choose (see below) but typically is around 90 minutes. Afterwards your guides treat you to a complementary lunch, traditional Catalan style, where you will have the chance to share the experience with your fellow passengers and you will be given certificates as proof for your friends of your daredevil status.

The company that operates the flights is called Balo Tour and in 1991 it became the first company established in Spain to offer flights in a balloon to the public.

Flight Options 2009

Complete flight: This is a 90 minute flight with passengers distributed evenly between up to three balloons.
Prices including the flight, a meal after the flight and a diploma:
• Adults – 150 €
• Children between 6-11 years - 95 €
• Accompanied children under 6 years – 45 €

Flight with change of passengers: At the midpoint of the flight, approximately 40 to 45 minutes in, passengers change over. This flight is available for groups with a minimum of 10 people.
• Price per passenger (adults and children) - 95 €

Location and Transport

By train:
The train leaves from Barcelona Sants Renfe (line C-3). You need to be in Vic by 8.20am and Balo Tour will collect you from the station.
Note: Please check the timetable of the trains as it changes for the summer and the winter. Currently, you would need to catch the 7am train, however you must check to make sure that there are no changes to the timetable. Please check here:
