Tired of Crowded Beaches? Try Public Swimming Pools in Barcelona

If your looking to escape the crowded beaches of Barcelona, stretching from Barceloneta down to the nudist beaches of Marbella, then you’re in luck as there is a vast selection of public swimming pools only a metro ride away.

It’s not often that you get to swim in an official Olympic swimming pool so your first stop has to be in Montjuïc. Set against the amazing city backdrop, the Picornell complex consists of a Jacuzzi, gym and 3 pools. There are two Olympic size swimming pools both indoor and outdoor. There is also a diving pool originally designed for the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games which along with the outdoor pool is complete with spectator stands with a seating capacity of 4,100 still used in international competitions. This diving pool is where the music video clip ¨Slow¨ was filmed by the acclaimed Australian artist, Kylie Monogue.
