Visit Barcelona in 3 days – Saving the Best For Last on the Final Day

Your weekend in Barcelona has reached its end, so here are some ideas to occupy fully your 3rd and last day in city, so as to have an unforgettable memory of this splendid city.

Morning in the Born and Ribera: Our last day begins on the famous ‘Ramblas’, on line 3 (Liceu stop). Upon leaving the subway, take Ferrán street on your left. After walking a little, you will discover the pretty Plaza Sant Jaume I, a large paved square where many popular festivals regularly take place and which also includes the Generalidad Palace and the seat of the town hall of Barcelona. Afterwards, if you continue straight on to the metro stop Jaume I, you will be able to find the highly renowned Picasso Museum, on Princesa Street, where you will have the opportunity of discovering some of the artist’s most famous works. You can then go to have a drink in the pleasant district of the Born, then heading down Sant Pere Street. You will then discover the Palau de la Música Catalana, a modernist monument built by the architect Lluís Domènech I, the concert hall of which is one of the most sumptuous in the world.

Picnic in Ciutadella Park: Continuing down the street of Sant Pere, you will discover the district of the same name, which is a little less touristy but nevertheless just as pretty, with its small old lanes and its characteristic restaurants. You will then come across the imposing Arc de Triomphe, built at the time of the World Fair of 1888 and there you will be able to have a picnic in Ciutadella Park, by the lake or on the lawns, next to the jugglers and the guitarists.

Montjuic afternoon: From the Arc de Triomphe, take the red metro line in the direction of Hospital de Bellvitge and get off at the Espanya stop. You will then be in the famous Plaza Espanya, with its fountain and its arenas. Afterwards, head up towards the hill of Montjuic where you will be able to visit the Poble Espanyol, a veritable small village right in the heart of the city. Then by going further up the hill, you will discover the MNAC: the national museum of Catalan Art, which comprises an immense collection of artistic works, embodying all epochs of Catalan art. Afterwards, you will find the swimming pools and the Olympic Stadium of Barcelona, and then upon ascending you will be able to visit the Miro foundation. After that, the many parks and gardens of Montjuic will allow for a moment of relaxation before reaching the castle.

Arc de TriomfA Magical Evening: In the evening, descend once more towards Plaza España, where as of 7 p.m. and up until 9 p.m. the magic fountains of Montjuic offer a splendid sound and light treat for you. Then you can go to check out an authentic flamenco show to finish off your weekend in style.
