For whom?
For animation fans or people of a curious nature

ArtFutura is the most renowned Festival of Culture and Digital Creation in Spain. Held every year simultaneously in several Spanish cities it includes a number of projections and exhibitions. Barcelona is usually the centre of the action, however this year Spanish people are a little puzzled as the majority of entertainment will be held in … Buenos Aires! But don’t worry; there is still a lot to see especially if you are in Barcelona between 4th and 9th November….

Artfutura, CircuitoFutura… What is it?

Artfutura is a festival dedicated to digital culture: animated films, video games, 3D environments etc. Every year a jury of experts awards a prize to the best animated creation. Up until now the majority of the animation was held in Barcelona, however in 2010, Buenos Aires has entered the scene, and a large number of the exhibitions will be shown there. However you needn’t suffer as the audiovisual programme (the most interesting) known as the CircuitoFutura will actually take place in Barcelona!

CircuitoFutura – What is there to see?

12 Spanish cities have the honour of making up the (Circuit) and Barcelona is one of them. As it is unlikely that there is enough time to see everything, we have outlined a small special selection of what to see.

The ‘shock’ film “We Live in Public”

10 years of work and over 5000 hours of rushes were necessary for Ondi Timoner to create this shock film-documentary that reveals the effects of the Internet on our social life, seen through the eyes of Josh Harris, known as the «Warhol of the Web». He is the founder of the web site Pseudo.com, the very first Internet TV channel.  He was also the man who financed the project «Quiet» in which 100 people lived in a bunker at the turn of the century into the millennium. It has already been awarded the Sundance Grand Jury Prize. You can’t miss it!

Music videos
The days of badly made music videos are no more. Nowadays any music video is a work of great animated artistic creation. This year as an exclusive feature of the FuturaCircuito at ArtFutura, you can’t miss:

- Exhibition of the work of Peter Candeland, the director of the revolutionary clips of the Gorillaz

- Exhibition of the work of Tim Hope who has worked with Coldplay and One Giant Leap

The Futura Graphics exhibition

For over 20 years, the designers Futura Graphics have been working with companies from all over the world. They are specialized in the creation of graphic illustrations for any kind of packaging or advertising campaigns.

Their work is presented at FuturaCircuito as part of ArtFutura. Check out their web site, it is really quite impressive.

The projections of Jonathan Wells

Before I continue let me clear up any doubts – Jonathan Wells is no relation of our beloved Orson. However the two share a common interest – the cinema. In 1996 Jonathan founded the famous festival RESFest that even into the years 2000 was still the most important digital film festival in the USA. It even reached Japan and Australia but particularly Africa!  One of the festivals, celebrated for the last time in 2006, enabled the discovery of Michel Gondry, author of the unforgettable Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

It is often forgotten that Jonathan Wells has also supervised many musical and visual creations. All can be discovered in Barcelona’s FuturaCircuito at ArtFutura. Good news, eh?

Films in 3D

FuturaCircuito
at ArtFutura, will present the opportunity to discover a whole number of Films in 3D. Certain exhibitions will provide the chance to learn a little more about this new technology that is becoming increasingly popular, and for this reason alone it is worth going.
