New Year’s Eve in Barcelona 2011
Barcelona, with its reputation as a party city, certainly doesn’t stop for the Christmas holidays or New Year’s Eve. There are loads of options available if you fancy spending the last day of the year in the busiest of Spanish cities. Whether you celebrate on the streets, by the beach, in a club, bar, or at a party, Barcelona is a fantastic place to start your new year with a bang!
Organised evenings and events
Le Meridien’s New Year’s Eve Gala Dinner offers a very special evening of fine food & celebrations from 8pm onwards for those with a refined taste. Located in the Gothic quarter of the city, Le Meridien is an elegant hotel often visited by VIPs. The menu is a bit pricey but includes delicious, great-quality food, wine and an all-night DJ. With a dress code of suits and cocktail dresses it is sure to be a stylish event to remember.
Buon Appetito Restaurant offers an Italian-style New Year’s Eve. It’s near Parc Ciutadella, (Metro stop- Barceloneta) starting at 8.30pm and finishing in the early hours. This is one of the few restaurants that organises an authentic Italian New Year’s Eve, with plenty of pork sausages and lentils, not to mention sparking Italian wine at midnight. Shôko’s New Year’s Eve bash is one of the coolest places to be in Barcelona. The all-inclusive ticket is €140, however if you don’t want to break the bank there are cheaper tickets for around €50 which include the entry charge and two drinks. Celebrate the New Year four times throughout the night as the theme changes from New York, London, Canary Islands and Moscow, joined by a string of guest DJ’s to spice up the night even further.
Welcome in 2012 at Rita Blue in the Raval. This venue offers a New Year’s Eve dinner, with the traditional Spanish campanadas and cava – grapes and sparkling wine at midnight. A DJ plays all night long. Reasonable prices and a great atmosphere make it a night to remember.
End-of-year party at Bar Clandestino – This funky party kicks off half an hour before midnight in the Gothic quarter of Barcelona. It’s yet another nice venue and the price includes drinks and a party bag!
Funky End of Year at Dostrece – Starting at midnight – a night of funk, salsa, soul, latino, boogaloo, dance floor jazz and old-school hip-hop. What else could you ask for?!
Poble Espanyol’s New Year’s Party: Bring in the new year with a huge university party, which continues all night, in various places (all indoors). The music is the key attraction at this Monjuïc Spanish-style village, with a large repertoire ranging from the 80s and 90s to today, and performances from many DJs.

In the city centre
The streets in the centre of Barcelona on New Year’s Eve fill up with revellers, as tourists and locals alike mill around on the hunt for fun and celebrations. The most popular spots are Las Ramblas, Plaça Catalunya and the Plaça Reial.
At the beach
The ‘street’ offers many possibilities, but don’t forget that Barcelona also has the beach! What’s the best thing about spending your New Year’s Eve on the beach? Everything is at hand: restaurants, lounge-bars and clubs on the beach.
It’s here that the party really gets into full swing. The waterfront is a very atmospheric place to bring in the bells, and you’ve got your pick of restaurants and bars to choose from. The midnight fireworks definitely lend it an extra special touch, and make for a must-see spectacle!
The most popular places in this part of the city are in the Olympic Port, which has an infinite number of bars, restaurants, clubs and lounge-bars on the beach, including Shôko, Opium Mar, Sotavento and Carpe Diem.
After midnight
If you fancy keeping the party going after midnight with dancing and music, we would recommend the most fashionable and most crowded places, which are also the largest and have the widest selection of music. Try Opium Mar (house), Boulevard (house-techno, rock, alternative) Razzmatazz (electro, rock, chillout) and Ottozutz (hip-hop, rock/indie, house). If you want to go to a huge event with music and famous DJs, don’t miss Maremagnum. Also not to be missed is the New Year’s party organized at Jamboree.

Hi!
I wanted to give away the info about the party we’re preparing in Barcelona. It will be in C/Aribau 202, in the city center and party area. It is in the bar called Cal Pep, for 50 people, where DJ Miki Roma will be playing modern, house and danceable music. BIG PARTY COMING UP!!!
There will be “cotillón” and presents for everybody, and also a great atmosphere in an unforgettable night! Come celebrate NYE with us!!!
