From unlocking the secrets of the perfect Paella to preparing different types of tapas, their cooking courses are a fantastic way of adding new Mediterranean dishes to your repertoire and at the same time sharing a great educational cooking experience with your friends, fellow group members and friendly Salsa Verde staff.

The kitchen is led by head chef, Rafael Ortiz, who established Salsa Verde in September 2008. Having inherited his love of cooking from his father, Rafael decided to put his passion into practice and give others the benefit of his experience in preparing traditional Spanish and Catalan dishes.

Course Details

Cooking Workshop for Individuals or Groups
Upon arrival at the cooking workshop you will meet the chef and the other people in your group. All equipment is provided so the only thing you will need to bring with you is your appetite. By the end of the workshop you will have learnt how to prepare some of the most popular Spanish and Catalan dishes in a fun, interactive group setting and also be given copies of all the recipes you have prepared.

During the course, you will:

• Have the chef explain the plan for the day.
• Go down to the local market to handpick all the fresh ingredients required.
• Back at the workshop, learn how to prepare some of the top local dishes including for example: Paella, Fideua, Escalibada and Crema Catalana.
• Finally, have the pleasure of eating what you have prepared.

Special Group Courses

• Tapas workshops: a course dedicated to the preparation of authentic tapas from a local and experienced chef. For groups of 10 – 20.
• Cutting Iberian ham: learn the traditional art of cutting cured ham straight from the bone. It’s not as easy as it sounds and needs to be done right to get the best flavour from the ham. For groups of 10 to 15 people.
• Sushi workshops: not Spanish, but a big favourite none-the-less.

Location
Salsa Verde is based in Sitges, a lovely seaside town just down the coast from Barcelona and easily reached by train from several of the stations in the centre of Barcelona (Paseo de Gracia, Sants, Clot leaving every 10-20 minutes). The journey takes you along the coast and lasts approximately 40-50 minutes. We recommend you go earlier in the day and spend some time wandering through the typical Spanish streets, along the fantastic promenade that stretches the length of the town and making the most of the good shopping the town has to offer. The combination of the cooking course and a visit to this idyllic town makes for a perfect day away from Barcelona.
