There are many different faces to Spain’s most picturesque city. Barcelona is situated between the hills of the Tibidabo and the Mediterranean Sea and the rivers Llobert and Besos. Being surrounded by 4 natural borders makes this city a wonderful place to visit as it mixes an enormous range of urban activities with some fine natural beauty which you would be hard pressed to find in most major cosmopolitan cities. With over 2,000 years of history packed into the Gothic Quarter, the winding streets give way to five unique and vibrant neighbourhoods that can charm even the most jaded of traveler.
Using the 1992 Olympic Games (held at Montjuic Mountain) as a spring board into international stardom, the city is a model when it comes to urban planning. A sort of benchmark of what the modern city should be like. This tour will focus on the the Barcelona of Past and Present. Starting off in the Gothic Quarter and moving to the site of the 1992 Olympics (Olympic Stadium, Palau St Jordi & the Calatrava telecommunication tower before winding its way down the mountain and arriving at the Poble Espanyol at base of Montjuic. The Plaza Espanya area, was the site of the 1929 world expo, and was the beginning of the world’s love affair with the most beautiful city on the Mediterranean coast. This tour will take you through the streets of Barcelona with breathtaking views of the city and port, ending with an opportunity to stroll through Poble Espanyol, an exact copy representing the streets of over 17 different regions of Spain. This all makes Juliá Travel’s Classic Barcelona tour an unforgettable excursion that captures the essence of Barcelona in under 4 hours.
