Barcelona International Boat Show 2010 – come aboard

    Barcelona's 49th International Boat Show

Where? Gran Via Exhibition Centre & Port Vell wharves

For who? Boat enthusiasts & any one interested in all things nautical
    When? 24 – 28 September 2014

The International boat show returns to Barcelona again this year for its 53rd birthday. The biggest event of its kind in Spain and one of Europe’s top events, will be exhibiting services, productions and innovations in every sector of the boating industry.

This year the Salon Nautico will take up the five halls in the Gran Via Exhibition Centre and the On-water Show in Port Vell will exceed the 250 boats that were displayed in the previous year’s show. Over 175,000 visitors and 1,600 indirect exhibitors are expected.

With more than 100 activities there is sure to be something for every type of visitor and age group. A key activity is the presentation of the main regattas; The King’s Cup, the S.A.R. Princesa Sofía – Mapfre Trophy, the Christmas Race and the Salt Route. Another must-see are the sailing and fishing simulators found at several stands at the Gran Via venue. These are so realistic that some of them are used for educational purposes in vocational training schools and other faculties. Sailing and fishing enthusiasts can ‘virtually’ experience the thrill of a catch on the high seas or plying the waves on a sailboat.

Innovation Zone, the benchmark for research and design

The Innovation Zone will be showcasing the new projects from design centres, engineering practices and shipyards and featuring some of the most innovative ideas for the nautical industry. This is a great opportunity to discover the latest trends in new technological developments.

Fun Beach, revealing the secrets of the sea

To be a good sailor, you need to know the secrets of the sea. And there’s no better way of learning them than by paying a visit to this zone, aimed primarily at young people, where they can set sail in the dedicated pool on canoes, kayaks and dinghies.

This zone features fishing tackle and virtual simulators that reproduce the experience of deep-sea fishing. It also presents various educational and recreational activities to promote responsible fishing among children. Several sea- and river-fishing championships will also be featured. This is a great place to meet like-minded people and share your experiences.

Espai del Mar, open to debate

Presentations of regattas, books, trophies, seminars, prize-giving ceremonies, etc. This is an area for debating and discussing issues concerning the marine environment and every aspect of sailing.
