Montserrat is just over an hour outside of the bustle of the Barcelona city centre. Crowded avenues give way to farmlands and skyscrapers turn into wind turbines. Julia Travel offers clients of Oh-Barcelona.com a discount of 10%

On this tour, after a comfortable drive through the picturesque villages dotting the highways, you make your way up the mountain to the breathtaking peaks of Montserrat. Rising majestically, 1235 metres from the ground, Montserrat, a UNESCO world heritage site, has been a sacred spot and a must-see for anyone visiting Barcelona since its rediscovery in the 12th century.
Montserrat (meaning jagged rocks) is the site of the Royal Basilica (1592) which welcomes an average of 3.2 million visitors per year and is home to the black virgin – a statue that attracted countless followers down a rocky path to the cave where the icon was hidden for over 800 years. Another top attraction is the choir and their famous performances held most days at 12 Noon. However, Montserrat is more than just religious icons, 12th century Romanesque carving, and impressive churches. This sacred spot is a favourite with nature lovers and those in search of a higher power.
Upon your arrival at Montserrat your tour guide will explain the history of the mountain and take you up to the main square. You will then be given free time to see the churches and with a bit of luck, get to hear the choir. From there you have the option to continue onwards and upwards to the top of Montserrat via the funicular which makes its way up the side of the mountain and acts as a moving observation deck with stunning views.
If you choose to take the trip to the top of these asymmetrical rock formations you will be rewarded with entrance to the visitor centre which explains the legends of over 20 different rock formations. Several nature tracks offer rewarding views as you take a walk on high what an afternoon under the blue skies of Catalonia can do for the spirit.

Hi there.
For the airport transportation, you could read our article on how to get from the airport to the city centre: http://www.oh-barcelona.com/en/blog/2009/tourist-guide/transport/barcelona-airport-transportation-2661 I would recommend for you to take Paco Taxi’s, or if you fancy a bit of luxury then Cars Deluxe. If you are a client of Oh-Barcelona then you can get discounts on these. There are also companies like Shuttle Direct and Barcelona Shuttle Service. A taxi is likely to cost around 25-30 Euros, Deluxe Cars will cost a fair bit more, and with Shuttle Direct it would be about 16 Euros per person, but this may vary depending on your flight times.
Cars deluxe also offer a private day trip to Girona, Figueres/Dali and then another town of your choice on the Costa Brava. http://www.carsdeluxe.es/en/barcelonatours/costa_brava.php You can get a price quote from them on their website.
I’m not aware of any companies that do a day trip specifically to all 3 of Sitges, Caves and Montserrat, but Deluxe Cars can do tailored trips and I’m sure they could sort something out for you. Again, if you mention Oh-Barcelona.com you can get discounts!
As for your transport from the hotel to the cruise pier, you could use a number of agencies, but I’d recommend just taking a taxi. It will probably be cheaper and easier. You could also use Deluxe Cars, or others like Barcelona Shuttle Service.
Again, for your half day or full day city tour, Deluxe Cars do these kind of trips, and you can get a quote from them on their website.
Hope this helps you and if you need anything else just ask, we can put you in touch with someone that will help with what you want.

Abolutely fantastic looking place. The second picture looks like Olympus, home of the Greek Gods. Beautiful scenery and a great location for all. I would love to go if only I had the time and the money.
Thanks for the comments.
Montserrat certainly is a fantastic place to take a day trip into the heart of Catalunya. I can’t wait to head out there again on a sunny day during May or June!
