In Barcelona, you will certainly have noticed paving stones on the ground which do not resemble others, with a small, red-coloured flower with "Ruta del Modernisme" written on them.
What is it about?
Ruta del Modernismo is a route leading through Barcelona. Gaudi, Doménech i Montaner, Puig i Cadafalch, and many other architects make Barcelona the capital of Modernism.
This route, which can be done on foot, allows you to discover impressive buildings, incredible palaces, as well as attractive houses and shops. There are more than 115 works which testify to the architectural wealth of Barcelona.
You can do this itinerary on your own, by following the famous pavements which mark the main axes of the route. Or, if you prefer, you can buy the guide for the ‘Ruta’, which consists of a route map, explanations, and most especially discounts on numerous modernist monuments, such as the famous Casa Batlló, Palau Güell or Gaudi’s house!
In order to find out more information, as well as many special offers, you can buy the guide for the ‘Ruta’, which you can find in ‘Centros del Modernismo’. This guide includes essays of at least 50% of all the modernist monuments in Barcelona, and also on three municipalities of Catalonia. You can also buy the complete pack for the “Ruta”, which includes a guide for the route; a coupon book; a map for the ‘Ruta’ with locations for 115 monuments; a bar and modernist restaurant guide; and a little bag to take everything in when you do the trail. The guide also offers a day-route, which gives you an idea of the most important monuments to see and gives you access to one public-access monument. Profits made from sales of the guide are used to restore the architectural heritage of the city.
This guide gives you the opportunity to visit the most important modernist buildings in the city, as well as local itineraries for three of Catalonia’s towns and cities. Discounts upon the monuments expire one year after purchase of the guide.
