The cash payment was a problem as our group had staggered arrivals. We didn't know about the credit card option until the last minute. A bank transfer would have been easiest.

The fact that you don't have to wait for a confirmation from the host. You know right away if you get the accomodation or not. Besides, you don't get charged for the full amount.
